Toby and the First Day of Spring

In a cozy cave in the mountains, there lived a little bear called Toby and his mama bear. All through the winter, they had stayed inside together, snuggled up close, while outside the snow kept falling and falling.

One day, Toby noticed a little ray of sunshine coming through the cave entrance. "Mama, is winter over?" he asked excitedly. His mama smiled: "Yes, my love, we can finally go outside."

When they went outside, Toby saw the forest full of new flowers and little green leaves. They met a bunny called Coco, who hopped over to them. "Hello! Do you want to play with me among the flowers?" asked Coco, and Toby ran happily to play with her.

After playing for a while, Toby's tummy rumbled: "Grrr." "I'm very hungry, Mama," said the little bear. His mama took him to a tree full of golden honey and carefully scooped out a little bit for Toby to eat. "It's so yummy, Mama!" he said, licking his lips.

They kept walking until they came to a river that sparkled in the sun. Mama Bear stepped carefully into the water and caught some silvery fish for them to eat together, while Toby watched from the bank.

Near the river, Toby saw another little bear up in the branch of a tree, playing and swinging. "I want to play up there too!" said Toby, and with effort he managed to climb all the way up to the highest branch.

But when he tried to come down, Toby realized he was very high up and felt scared. "Mama, help me, please!" he cried, all frightened. His mama rushed to the tree and very carefully brought him down in her arms, hugging him tight.

On the way back home, they found a bunch of bushes full of purple blueberries. Toby started eating lots and lots, one after another, until suddenly it began to rain. Mama and Toby ran quickly back to the cave!

Inside, warm and safe from the rain, Toby snuggled up next to his mama bear. Thinking about his bunny friend Coco, the sweet honey, the fish in the river, and the blueberries, he closed his tired little eyes and fell fast asleep. The End. 🐻🌐
