The Little Mouse Looking for a Friend

In a garden full of flowers lived Tito, a little mouse with light grey fur and little pink ears, who felt very lonely and dreamed of finding a friend.

Tito saw a squirrel with brown fur and a fluffy tail go by, running so fast between the trees that he couldn't even catch up to say hello.

A little sad, Tito looked up at the sky and saw a little blue bird flying so high above the clouds that his voice couldn't reach up there.

After that he met a big dog with brown fur, so enormous that Tito barely reached his paw. He wanted to say hello, but he was afraid to go near someone so big.

Further ahead he saw a cat with black fur and green eyes, stretching in the sun. Tito hid behind a stone, trembling: surely a cat would eat him in one bite.

With a sad heart, Tito thought he would never find a friend, and he kept walking slowly through the garden, looking at the ground.

Suddenly, he heard a little noise behind a flowerpot and there was Nina, a little mouse with white fur and pink ears.

"Hello," said Nina. "I'm looking for a friend too, but all the animals I find are too fast, or fly too high, or are too big."

Tito smiled and felt that his heart wasn't sad anymore. "The same thing happened to me!" he said. "I think I've finally found my friend."

From that day on, Tito and Nina played together every afternoon in the garden, and they learned that a good friend can be closer than you think.
