Bismillah," said Omar, taking his mother's hand. They went out for a walk just as it started to rain.
Suddenly, Omar heard a very sad meow. It was coming from under an abandoned cart.
It was a tiny kitten, all wet and shivering from the cold. Omar felt his heart squeeze tight.
"Mama, can we help him?" "Of course, sweetheart. Caring for animals is something Allah loves very much."
At home, Omar dried the kitten with a soft towel and gave him some warm milk. The kitten began to purr.
Together they made a poster with a drawing of the kitten: 'Do you know him? He's living with us in the meantime.'
Three days passed. Omar played with the kitten every afternoon and already loved him very much. Secretly, he wished that no one would come looking for him.
But one afternoon there was a knock at the door. It was a girl from the neighborhood, wearing a sand-colored hijab and a striped dress. "Luna! I found you!" she said, smiling. The kitten ran happily toward her.
Omar watched the girl, in her sand-colored hijab, hug Luna. He felt a little bit of sadness, but also joy. "Alhamdulillah, Luna is home," he said, smiling. He had learned that caring for a small creature, even if just for a little while, is a blessing.
